B-17G View the Completion 9:00a.m.-Noon | World War II Hangar Building 3
August 17th is the 80th anniversary of the first Schweinfurt raid during WWII that witnessed significant losses and changed the dynamics of the air war in Europe. In conjunction with this anniversary, we will unveil the completion of our eight-year restoration on our B-17 Flying Fortress with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Meet the restoration crew, ask questions and enjoy seeing the B-17 up close and personal!
Starting at 2:00p.m. | Century of Flight Hangar Building 2
The 483rd Bombardment Group, a B-17 unit assigned to the 15th Air Force in Italy, will be shuttering their Association. During the ceremony, there will be a color guard retirement of their colors and its four squadrons with a short historical summary of the group. Their archives are located at the Museum of Aviation and many are on display in the Eagle building.  Check out the archiving process as students from Middle Georgia State University digitize and catalog the 483rd records and photos on site.
