Memorial Day is right around the corner. Let’s make a conscious effort this year to remember the reason for the holiday: the ultimate sacrifice that our military men and women have paid in the past and continue to pay today, in defense of liberty.
This weekend (Saturday the 21st, registration information here) is the second annual Tour de Moose bike ride. Last year’s event was great; we were blessed with beautiful weather and had a great turn out. This year should be just as good, the event will be held on Armed Forces Day and temperatures at ride time are forecast to be in the 70s. This is a great family event, and is an awesome opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the aircraft that are worked on at or call Robins Air Force Base home. Last year my wife and I were able to visit an F-15, C-5, C-130, E-8, C-17 from the Air Force and a UH-1 and AH-1 from the Marine Corps. Pilots and crew were very friendly and we enjoyed lengthy conversations with several of them. This year many of these same aircraft will be on static display including the C-130, F-15 and E-8. Come out and join us this year, it should be a great ride.
