Leading up to the Middle Georgia STEM City Expo on 15 August, the STEM City Summit provides an opportunity to have government, industry, and education interface through a paneled discussion and technical information tables. As the technical environment that we operate in is rapidly evolving and the technological capabilities that we leverage are continually advancing, it is vital that we keep pace with the investments into the most enabling resource, our people. The panel will focus on how STEM professionals must be actively engaged, maintaining their technical relevancy, in fields which are disrupting our status quo such as Artificial Intelligence, Additive Manufacturing, and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems.

Join us for a FREE family-friendly STEM activity day featuring over 20 organizations from across Middle Georgia! This hands-on expo is packed with interactive exhibits and demonstrations designed to excite students, parents, and educators about science, technology, engineering, and math.

Whether you’re coding with robots or building circuits — there’s something for every age and interest!

Training classes will be available throughout the day.
The National STEM Academy will have free family activities from 11 am- 1 pm in the 2nd-floor classroom in Century of Flight.
The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required for attendance. Preregistration is encouraged for Training Sessions.

Training Session 1

Pink STEM Aviation & Aerospace Discovery Lab – Presented by PinkSTEM, Inc.

Children in grades 2nd – 5th are invited to drop in for exciting, hands-on Pink STEM Aviation & Aerospace activities! Young innovators will discover how airplanes are engineered, explore the science of flight, play with Aviation droids and robots and learn how aircraft stay in the air through fun building and design challenges. Students will think like aerospace engineers while developing creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills in an engaging STEM environment.

Prerequisites: None.
Grade Range: 2nd – 5th grade
Where: Starbase Classroom 1 (Century of Flight Hangar, 2nd Floor)

Training Session 2

Code, Connect & Create: Build Your Own Meme App! – Presented by The GEAR Lab and Ed Farm

Ready to take your first steps into mobile app development? Join us for an exciting, hands-on workshop where you’ll dive into Swift Playgrounds—the same environment used to build real iOS apps! Using our special “Meme Creator” template, you will learn how to connect your app to the internet, fetch live data, and generate your very own customized memes. Along the way, we’ll introduce you to the fundamentals of Swift, Apple’s powerful and easy-to-learn programming language. No prior coding experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and get ready to watch your code come to life instantly!

Prerequisites: None. Designed for absolute beginners.
Grade Range: 6th – 8th grade

Training Session 3

Charlie Tango Alpha Flight School – Presented by Charlie Tango Alpha (CTA) Aviation

High school students interested in aviation are invited to join Charlie Tango Alpha Flight School, where they will explore the fundamentals of flight, aerodynamics, aircraft systems, and aviation safety while gaining hands-on experience with real-world aviation principles. Students will develop the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for careers as pilots, aerospace engineers, air traffic controllers, aircraft mechanics, and other aviation professionals, while learning about educational pathways, certifications, and opportunities within the growing aviation industry.
