Python Programming Workshop (Grades 9-12)

This 6-hour Python workshop is designed for students interested in learning to program and strengthening their problem-solving skills with Python.

The class will run from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM, with lunch provided, and is structured to support both beginner students and those with prior programming experience. Instructors will be prepared to divide participants into two groups if needed to ensure appropriate pacing and challenge for all students.

Topics Covered

  • Python basics, including reading and writing code and working with variables
  • Programming logic using conditionals and decision-making
  • Looping structures, such as for and while loops
  • How to build and use functions to write cleaner, more powerful programs
  • Practice solving challenges using platforms like HackerRank
  • Guidance on next steps for continuing their Python learning beyond the workshop

 

Grades 6 – 12 are approved to use the attached ‘Release Waiver’ for arrival/dismissal. The completed form can be found in the Drop Off & Pick Up Procedure Section here: https://museumofaviation.org/educate/policies-procedures and must be turned into the instructor or emailed in advance to STEM@museumofaviation.org.

If you choose to use this form, the participant may walk in beginning at 9:15 AM and will be released by our instructor at 3:30 PM. Please have a plan for where to meet your party for pick-up. We kindly ask participants to remain on designated walking paths and remain alert for vehicles.

Please do not bring any food or drinks other than water.
