Heritage Series IV: “Remembering Berlin in the Cold War”
Location: Nugteren Hangar, Museum of Aviation
Join us for the fourth installment of our Heritage Series, “Remembering Berlin in the Cold War,” commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift and the upcoming 35th anniversary of the Berlin Wall’s fall.
The Berlin Airlift, which began in 1948, was a monumental effort by the United States and its allies to deliver vital supplies to West Berlin amidst a Soviet blockade. This mission symbolized a triumph of humanitarian aid and military logistics, showcasing the resilience and solidarity of the Allied forces. As we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift and the forthcoming 35th anniversary of the Berlin Wall’s fall, we invite you to join us for a compelling discussion. Our distinguished panel, including Bibi LeBlanc, Chuck Clay, and Ralph Dionne, will share their unique insights and experiences, offering a deeper understanding of this historical achievement. Please save the date and join us at the Museum of Aviation to honor this extraordinary chapter in history.
The event will include a 1.5-hour presentation followed by a 30-minute audience Q&A session.
Speakers:
- Bibi LeBlanc: Bibi is an award-winning author and founder of Culture to Color, LLC. She has a personal connection to the Berlin Airlift through her mother and family.
- Chuck Clay: Chuck, the grandson of Gen. Lucius D. Clay, will speak about his grandfather’s pivotal role in coordinating the Berlin Airlift and his contributions as Gen. Eisenhower’s deputy.
- Ralph Dionne: Ralph, a 96-year-old Berlin Airlift veteran, will share his first-hand experiences from one of history’s greatest humanitarian efforts.
