Honoring the Famous SR-71 Blackbird

Join us for a special Family Aviation Day celebrating one of the most extraordinary aircraft ever built, the SR-71 Blackbird

Did you know? The SR-71 Blackbird on display at the Museum of Aviation is the very aircraft that set and still holds the world speed record for a manned air-breathing aircraft. Reaching 2,193.167 mph (Mach 3.3) on July 28, 1976, this legendary aircraft cemented its place in aviation history, a record that remains unbroken today.

Spend the day exploring the incredible story behind this record-setting aircraft through firsthand accounts from the people who flew, maintained, and supported the Blackbird program.

Event Highlights

Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast, a history buff, or simply looking for an exciting family outing, Family Aviation Day is your chance to connect with the people behind one of aviation’s greatest achievements and stand beside the very aircraft that made history.
