Commemorative

The World War II Commemorative exhibit tells the story of building Robins Air Force Base and of World War II.

  • Congressman Carl Vinson was key in the location and construction of Robins Air Force in September 1941.
    December 7, 1941 had a tremendous impact of the base.

  • A P-51 Mustang, the center of the diorama, is marked as "Ferocious Frankie," the aircraft flown by Wallace E. Hopkins of Washington, Georgia.

  • Highlighted is the significance of women power in flying, in uniform, in nursing and in “Rosie the Rivetor” roles.

  • Prisoner of War, the advent of the nuclear age and the final surrender of Germany and Japan complete the exhibit.
